The Senate of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is a collegial governing body responsible for the University's academic affairs, where decisions related to studies, research and academic activities are discussed and adopted. The Senate consists of 49 members, including 10 student representatives. They participate in meetings, consider submitted matters, express students' perspectives and vote on decisions.

During the KTU Senate meetings held on 27 May, 17 June and 30 September 2026, various matters relevant to the University's academic community were discussed. These included university governance, infrastructure development, the organisation of studies, student admissions, scholarship regulations and student involvement in university decision making.

During the meetings, the Dean of the KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture was elected. KTU's infrastructure development vision was also presented, including the University's development priorities and planned infrastructure projects. Senate members attended a presentation on amendments to the KTU Statute, and a temporary commission was established to prepare a revised version of the Senate Rules of Procedure.

Attention was also given to the 2026 student admission results. Senate members were presented with the results of admissions to first cycle, second cycle, integrated and professional studies at KTU. The results of international student admissions in 2026 and admissions to third cycle doctoral studies were also presented separately. A decision was adopted to amend the KTU student admission regulations for 2026, while tuition fees and other charges for doctoral studies in 2026 were approved.

The Senate also approved changes to the names of two study programmes. The study programme "Intelligent Robotics Systems" was renamed "Robotics", while "Sustainable Management and Production" was renamed "Sustainability Management and Production".

Decisions relevant to students were also adopted regarding scholarships. The KTU scholarship allocation regulations were amended, and two new scholarships were established: the Breakthrough Scholarship and the First Year Talent One Time Scholarship.

The meetings also included a presentation of the results of a KTU student survey on their involvement in various university governance and decision making bodies. Students were involved in this presentation and introduced Senate members to the activities carried out by the KTU Students' Association (KTU SA) to improve student representation experiences.

Student representatives in the Senate continue to actively represent student interests and participate in decisions relevant to the university community. Their involvement in the Senate provides an opportunity to communicate students' perspectives when matters related to the University's academic activities are considered.

The next KTU Senate meeting will take place on 28 October 2026 at 14:00 in the Santaka Valley. Students interested in attending and learning more about the Senate's proceedings are invited to contact Karolina, Vice President for Social and Academic Affairs of the KTU SA Central Students' Association, at karolina.lodaite@ktusa.lt.

We invite students to take this opportunity to observe a Senate meeting and learn more about the University's academic decision making process. See you at the meeting!
